Embassy of Japan to Host a Job Fair for Returning JPEPA Candidates
2018/6/19
Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) - Press Release No. 29- 2018
The Embassy of Japan will be holding a job fair for returning Filipino nurses and caregivers on July 31, 2018 at the Makati Diamond Residences.
Japan has been accepting Filipino nurse and caregiver candidates based on the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA). Since then, over 700 Filipino nurse and caregiver candidates have already returned to the Philippines (data as of March 2018).
This event will benefit the returnees who obtained the Japanese licensure yet opted to return and stay in the Philippines, and those who were unable to obtain the Japanese licensure which supposedly qualifies them to continue their work in Japan after the conclusion of their initial contract of 3 to 5 years.
Their experience of working in hospitals or caregiving facilities in Japan under the direct guidance of their Japanese supervisors and learned superior knowledge and skills in this field make them valuable prospects for Japanese companies looking for this particular work experience. Apart from being familiar with the Japanese working environment, they have also acquired basic conversation ability in Japanese as they have been educated for 6 to 12 months of extensive basic Japanese language training provided by the Japanese government, plus their years of stay in Japan.
Since 2012, the Embassy has held an annual job fair with Japanese companies and medical institutes. This initiative is a gesture of the Japanese government’s commitment to assist the returning Filipino nurse and caregiver candidates in finding opportunities which will enable them to continue to apply the knowledge and skills they gained in Japan, and further strengthen the relationship between Japan and the Philippines.
Last year, around 50 JPEPA returnees and 35 companies participated in the job fair. Many Japanese companies in sectors of manufacturing and education-related industries were in need of Japanese-speaking Filipino staff. Through the past job fairs, several returnees were hired as company nurses, Japanese language teachers, interpreters, and office staff. More Japanese companies, medical institutes, and even more JPEPA returnees are expected to attend this year.
The Embassy is accepting applications for participants until July 13, 2018. For further information, please contact (02) 551.5710 local 2117 or email ecosec@ma.mofa.go.jp.
