National Day Reception in Cebu City Celebrates the 60th Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan

  On February 27, the Consular Office of Japan in Cebu hosted a National Day Reception to celebrate the 60th birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel in Cebu City. Among the distinguished guests present were Cebu Provincial Board member Hon. Andrei Duterte and Hon. Kerrie Keanne Shimura, Consul General of People’s Republic of China, Hon. Jia Li, and Regional Director of Dept. of Tourism - Reg. VII Mr. Shalimar Hofer Tamano, Regional Director of Police Regional Office- Region VII PB Gen Albert Ignatius Ferro.

  Mr. KUWABARA Atsushi, Minister and Consul General talked about the close ties between Japan and Philippines in exchange of people, sports, culture, business and development cooperation. He also mentioned the plan to upgrade the Consular Office of Japan in Cebu to a full-fledge Consulate General.

  At the reception, Japanese foods and drinks were provided. There were also presentations to promote the Japanese culture including the screening of videos introducing the activities of the local governments of Yokohama City and Kitakyushu City as well as panel displays introducing Origami.
