JAPAN DELIVERS OVER THREE MILLION COVID-19 VACCINE DOSES TO THE PHILIPPINES

2021/10/30

The Government of Japan completed the delivery of its latest provision of 1.96 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to the Philippines this month, making Japan’s contribution to the Philippine vaccine stockpile reach more than three million doses as of date.

Minister NAKATA Masahiro, along with Department of Foreign Affairs(DFA) Undersecretary Brigido J. Dulay, welcomed the arrival of 1,065,600 more doses of Japan-manufactured AstraZeneca vaccine on October 30 in Manila, two days after the delivery of the 896,000 doses from Japan last October 28. This sum of 1.96 million vaccine doses for the month of October is in addition to the 1.12 million doses provided by Japan to the Philippines last July.

Both vaccine provisions are on top of Japan’s contribution to the COVAX facility and serve as integral component of the comprehensive partnership between Japan and the Philippines in this time of the pandemic.
