FOR “PERMANENT RESIDENT” WHO FAILED TO RE-ENTER JAPAN AND LOST THE STATUS OF RESIDENCE DUE TO INFLUENCE OF THE NOVEL CORONAVIRUS(COVID-19)

1. Eligible Person
  Foreign nationals holding the status of residence of “Permanent Resident” who departed Japan with a re-entry permit (including the “special re-entry permit”), then failed to re-enter Japan within the period of validity of the re-entry permit (*) due to the impact of the Novel Coronavirus, and consequently, lost the status of residence.
(*) Expiration date of the re-entry permit must be on and after January 1, 2020 to April 30, 2023.
 
2. Procedures (Visa application)
  Foreign nationals who come under the criteria of 1. above can apply for “Long-term resident” visa as follows and when they enter Japan with this visa at airport of Japan, the status of residence of “Permanent Resident” may be granted. 
  The application must be submitted through the accredited agencies. Please take note that visas may not be issued as a result of examination as well as on regular visa applications.
 (1) Visa application period
      April 26 (Wed), 2023
      * Application filed beyond the date mentioned above will no longer be accepted.

 (2) Requirements
 • Visa application form (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm photo with white background taken within 6 months)
 • Philippine passport
 • Photocopy of the Residence Card of “Permanent Resident”
 • Petition
 * Other documents may be required, if necessary.    
 
 (3) Visa fee
   Normal visa fee is charged.

3. Extension of re-entry permit
  Valid re-entry permit holders may avail the procedure for extending the validity of re-entry permit as usual.
