Ambassador Haneda visits two Japan-funded projects

On July 13, Ambassador Koji Haneda joined Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar on the site visit accompanied by Philippine media of the Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement Project and the Guadalupe Bridge and Lambingan Bridge which are scheduled to undergo seismic improvement from 2019 through the Metro Manila Priority Bridges Seismic Improvement Project funded by the Japanese government.
The River Channel Improvement project have completed major works such as construction of revetment with river wall, dredging and construction of dike along the Pasig-Marikina River by utilizing Japan's disaster prevention technology. The project is expected to contribute to flood damage mitigation and sustainable urban economic development of the National Capital Region.
The Bridges Seismic Improvement Project, on the other hand, aims to improve earthquake resistance of these two bridges given its importance in the economic activities of the surrounding areas and for early recovery in case of disaster. The project is expected to contribute to the revitalization of stable and sustainable economic activities in the Metro Manila area.
