Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) - Press Release No.61 - 2018

○ Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. and Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines Koji Haneda exchanged notes on 07 Nov at the Department of Foreign Affairs on the turnover of UH-1H Parts and Maintenance Equipment from the Japan Ground Self Defense Force to the Philippine Air Force.
○ The Philippines will find these parts and equipment most useful as the Philippine Air Force deploy UH-1H helicopter to conduct activities relating to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, transport, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
○ After the exchange note ceremony, Japan’s Ministry of Defense and the Philippines’s Department of National Defense will coordinate the details of the transfer procedure and the schedule for the turnover.
○ We hope that this defense equipment transfer will contribute to further cooperation between Japan and the Philippines in such area as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief as well as maritime security.
