Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) - Press Release No. 63- 2018

The opening ceremony of the Preparatory Japanese Language Training for the 11th Batch of Filipino nurse and careworker candidates bound for Japan under the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA) was held on November 8, 2018 at the TESDA Women’s Center in Taguig City and at the Nihongo Center Foundation (NCF) in Manila. Representing the Embassy of Japan was First Secretary Manabu Yasukawa who gave his message to the candidates.

The training program is implemented through the collaborative efforts of the governments of Japan and the Philippines for the initial 6 months of training of the JPEPA Filipino nurse and careworker candidates before their departure for Japan and aims to further assist them in passing the Japanese Licensure Examinations thereafter.

The 323 candidates will undergo six months of preparatory training at three different venues: the Language Skills Institute at TESDA, the Nihongo Center Foundation Inc., and the PAD Foundation Inc. They will then depart for Japan in June 2019 and undergo another six months of Japanese language training there prior to their work term in hospitals and care facilities.
