Reception Hosted by the Japanese Embassy and Saga Prefecture “THE SIGHTS, SOUNDS AND TASTES OF SAGA”
Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) - Press Release No.14 - 2019
On February 8, the Embassy of Japan and Saga Prefecture co-hosted a reception entitled "THE SIGHTS, SOUNDS AND TASTES OF SAGA" at the Ambassador's residence.
Ambassador Koji Haneda and Governor of Saga Prefecture Yoshinori Yamaguchi welcomed Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III at the reception, as well as many guests from the Philippine film and broadcasting industries, and travel and food companies.
During the reception, Governor Yamaguchi promoted Saga, a prefecture which is located in the northern part of Kyushu, Japan. The guests enjoyed "Saga beef", which is well known in this prefecture.
Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III and his spouse, Mrs. Cynthia A. Dominguez, who visited Saga Prefecture last fall, were appointed as Saga Prefecture Japan International Goodwill Ambassadors by Governor Yamaguchi at the reception, as witnessed by Ambassador Haneda.
Saga Prefecture is aiming for expansion of inbound tourism through the film commission in the Philippines. It has been the shoot location of Filipino films, "This Time" in 2016 and "Hanggang Kailan?" which was released this month. As a surprise to the guests, Xian Lim and Louise Delos Reyes, who are the lead actors of "Hanggang Kailan?" attended the reception.
It is expected that the film commission industry in Saga Prefecture will progress and will further promote the human exchanges between the Philippines and Saga Prefecture.
