2019/6/20
Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) - Press Release No. 48- 2019

Third Secretary Junichi Hirano attended the “20th PCNC Annual Assembly” in Novotel Manila Araneta Center last June 4, 2019 to promote “The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) 1”. The event was attended by around 500 accredited NGO members of the PCNC.
Since 1989, the Embassy of Japan had implemented 543 projects in the Philippines under the GGP. It provided facilities and equipment for education, health, agriculture and capacity building, which support development projects that are initiated by local communities in order to satisfy diverse needs at the grassroots level, helping the Filipino people, one community at a time.
Japan has been a longstanding partner of the Philippines, thus the Government of Japan commits continued support to development projects for the Philippines from big projects up to the community level.
After the presentation, participants were given the chance to make clarifications and questions about the GGP. Many of them have expressed their interest in GGP.
Note*1 The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) was established in 1989 to assist NGOs and local public authorities in developing countries in responding to various development needs in a prompt and complete manner, even though on a smaller scale.
