On July 20, Ambassador Koji Haneda visited the Museo Kordilyera of UP (University of the Philippines) Baguio and received a briefing on the culture of the indigenous peoples of the Cordillera and Northern Luzon by UP Baguio Chancellor Raymund Rovillos and Ambassador Delia D. Albert, former Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines.

On July 21, Ambassador Haneda attended the annual memorial ceremony for the war dead at the memorial monument in the Japanese Garden. This memorial monument was built through the dedicated efforts of Filipino-Japanese descendants in Baguio in cooperation with the city government on February 11, 1973. Around 300 people joined the memorial ceremony, among them Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Mr. Carlos B. Teraoka, Chairman of the Filipino-Japanese Foundation of Northern Luzon.

After the ceremony, Ambassador Haneda was welcomed by more than 300 members of the Filipino-Japanese Foundation of Northern Luzon when he visited the Philippines-Japan Friendship Center “Abong”. This Center was established in 1986 through the efforts of Sister Theresia Unno and Mr. Carlos B. Teraoka as a symbol of Philippines-Japan friendship.

Afterwards, Ambassador Haneda delivered his opening remarks at a special concert of Renaissance European Music by “Friends of Collegio” from Amakusa City, which was conducted at Saint Louis University as part of the Philippines- Japan Friendship Month 2019.
