Awarding Ceremony for Ambassador Commendation to Mr. Carlos Yulo, 2019 FIG World Artistic Gymnastics Championships Gold Medalist

On October 17th, Ambassador Koji Haneda hosted a ceremony at his residence for the Ambassador Commendation to Mr. Carlos Yulo, gold medalist at the 2019 FIG World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Yulo also secured a spot for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the same competition.
The commendation was given to recognize Yulo’s efforts in enhancing the relationship between Japan and the Philippines. Yulo has been training in Japan since 2016 with Japanese coach Munehiro Kugimiya.
Among those who attended the awarding ceremony were Madame Ihoko Haneda, the ambassador’s wife, and Ms. Cynthia Carrion, president of the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines. Coach Kugimiya was also present at the ceremony.
