Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) - Press Release No.04 - 2020

On January 29, 2020 Japanese Chargé d’Affaires YAMAMOTO Yasushi signed the Deed of Donation for in-kind relief assistance in response to the damage caused by the eruption of Taal Volcano. The ceremony held at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) was attended by Mr. Rolando Joselito Delizo Bautista, DSWD Secretary.
The in-kind relief assistance consisting of 10,000 N95 Masks, 5,500 5-gallon portable water, 5,000 portable jerry cans, and 5 sets of generators and cord reels, will be coursed through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
As a volcanic country like the Philippines, Japan has repeatedly experienced hardships caused by volcanic activities in its history. Japan is in solidarity with the people of the Philippines in facing the challenges posed by the Taal eruption.
The Government of Japan made the above decision on rendering relief assistance upon request, from a humanitarian point of view, and in light of the friendship between Japan and the Philippines.
