Ambassador Endo sends off the 22nd Batch of JDS Fellows from the Philippines

On 16 August 2024, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya hosted a send-off ceremony at his residence for the 22nd Batch of the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship by Japanese Grant Aid (JDS) fellows from the Philippines. Twenty JDS scholars are scheduled to leave for Japan to pursue graduate studies at leading Japanese universities.

Among the distinguished guests in attendance were Undersecretary Joseph J. Capuno of the National Economic and Development Authority, Deputy Assistant Secretary Leah Victoria T. Carada of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Director Fernando M. Porio of the Civil Service Commission, Chief Representative SAKAMOTO Takema of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Philippines, Ms. Bernadette S. Hieida of De La Salle University and Ms. SHIMIZU Yuna of Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) JDS Project Office in the Philippines.

Ambassador ENDO Kazuya, in his opening remarks, extended his well wishes to the JDS Fellows and expressed hope that their studies would serve them well and contribute significantly to the Philippines’ progress and prosperity. Additionally, he conveyed his gratitude to the program’s implementing partners in the Philippines for their steadfast support, which has ensured the program’s continued success.

The JDS is a scholarship project launched in 2002 by the Government of the Philippines with funding from the Government of Japan through its Official Development Assistance under the Japan International Cooperation Agency. It aims to enhance the capabilities of young Filipino government officials, thereby contributing to the country’s socioeconomic development.
