5th Anniversary of the Philippine Railways Institute
On 16 December 2024, the 5th Anniversary of the Philippine Railways Institute (PRI) was held.
The PRI was established as a human resource development and monitoring organization for the railways with the aim of urgently establishing a mechanism for the sustainable development of high-quality operations and maintenance personnel in the rail sector.
The ceremony was attended by Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista and Minister for Economic Affairs of the Embassy of Japan NIHEI Daisuke, who celebrated the fifth anniversary of the establishment of the PRI with all stakeholders.
In his speech, Minister Nihei stated that the Japanese government will continue to work with the DOTr and the PRI to ensure that the Philippine railway system meets the highest standards of safety and punctuality of operation.
The Government of Japan, through its Official Development Assistance (ODA), will continue to strongly support major railway projects in the Philippines, such as the Metro Manila Subway Project and the North-South Commuter Railway.
