Japan Coast Guard provides capacity building support to the Philippine Coast Guard (Towing Operation training, Small Boat Operation training, etc.)
From 20 to 31 January 2025, the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) provided capacity building support to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). As part of the Japanese government’s Official Development Assistance (ODA), this project is implemented under Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)’s Technical Cooperation Project.
The Mobile Cooperation Team (MCT) dispatched by the JCG provided technical guidance to the crew of PCG patrol vessels, including those in the two 44m class Japan-provided patrol vessels. These included specialized training in towing and small boat operations, both of which are directly related to field operations.
The JCG will continue to work with the PCG to enhance its capacity building efforts.
