Ambassador ENDO Kazuya Visits the Ateneo de Manila University for Embassy Lecture Series

On 9 May 2025, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya delivered an insightful lecture on Japan and the Philippines’ bilateral relations at the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) as part of their lecture series “Ateneo Global’s EmbLEM: Embassy Lectures, Encounters, and Masterclasses.” The lecture series brought together students, faculty, and other members of the Ateneo community to broaden their understanding of the continuously evolving bilateral ties between Japan and the Philippines.

Also in attendance were Dean of School of Government Dr. Philip Arnold P. Tuaño; Dean of the Dr. Rosita G. Leong School of Social Sciences Dr. Czarina Saloma – Akpedonu; Acting Director of the Japanese Studies Program Dr. Kristine Michelle Santos; Assistant Vice President for University Partnerships and Internationalization Ms. Ma. Cristina Alikpala; Director for Partnerships and Engagement Ms. Karen Sunico; Director for Internationalization at Home Ms. Carolyn Natividad; and Chair of the Department of Political Science Dr. Carmel V. Abao.
Ateneo’s EmbLEM series strives to give students the opportunity to learn from and engage with senior diplomatic officials assigned to the Philippines. Through an informative discussion, the lecture series aims to be a platform to deepen students’ knowledge of international relations and global issues.
During his presentation, Ambassador Endo highlighted the flourishing relations between Japan and the Philippines, spotlighting recent developments in cooperation and collaboration in the areas of economy, security, culture, and people-to-people exchange. Underscoring how vital the youth’s role is in sustaining and enhancing diplomatic relations, he also encouraged the students to actively engage in efforts and initiatives that continue to promote friendship, international cooperation, and understanding.
The lecture ended with a lively question-and-answer session where students got the chance to expand their knowledge further with more insights from Ambassador Endo.
