2025/12/3
From 1 to 2 December 2025, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya visited the Province of Negros Occidental, particularly the cities of Bacolod, La Carlota, and Bago.

On 1 December 2025, Ambassador Endo attended the completed research presentation and symposium organized by the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) on “Sustainable Development of Sugarcane Cultivation in the Philippines.” Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) Administrator Pablo Luis Azcona also attended the event.

The symposium highlighted the latest results of the joint research initiatives on sugarcane cultivation by JIRCAS, in collaboration with the SRA. In addition, Yanmar Philippines also showcased innovative farm machinery for sugarcane production. This event is aimed at fostering a more productive, resilient, and sustainable sugarcane industry in the Philippines.

On the same day, Ambassador Endo visited the JIRCAS and SRA demonstration farm in Bacolod City to observe the deep planting cultivation technology. This innovative method, an integral part of their collaborative research, aims to enhance and stabilize sugarcane production even under extreme weather conditions.

After visiting the La Granja Agricultural Research and Extension Center, a research facility of SRA in La Carlota City, Ambassador Endo then went to the Organization for Industrial, Spiritual, and Cultural Advancement (OISCA) Training Center in Bago City. OISCA, a Japanese NGO, implements projects funded by the Government of Japan, including enhancing the sericulture or silk production industry in Negros Occidental.
