Ambassador ENDO pays a courtesy call on Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto

On 20 April 2026, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya visited the temporary Pasig City Hall and exchanged views with Pasig City Mayor Victor Ma. Regis “Vico” Sotto. 

Ambassador Endo highlighted the Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement Project, which Japan has supported through Official Development Assistance (ODA) for many years, and expressed his hope that the Japanese government and the City of Pasig will continue to work closely together. He also noted that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Philippines, and discussed possibilities to commemorate the 70th Friendship Year in Pasig City. 

Mayor Sotto gave a warm welcome to Ambassador Endo and expressed his gratitude for Japan’s ODA support, focusing on the current status of ODA projects implemented in the city.  

Ambassador Endo and Mayor Sotto then exchanged views on renewable energy and the environment, exploring potential areas for further cooperation between Japan and Pasig City.
