Ambassador ENDO honors the New Japan Philharmonic with welcome reception

On 23 June 2026, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya hosted a reception to welcome the New Japan Philharmonic (NJP), who are visiting the Philippines for “A 70 Year Opus: Celebrating Philippines-Japan Friendship in Concert.” The reception was also attended by NJP Managing Director SATO Fumihiko, Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay, officials from the Philippine government, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, and media personnel.
As a special showcase of their musical artistry and technical skill, the NJP performed moving renditions of Edward Elgar’s Salut d’Amour, Jules Massenet’s Meditation from Thaïs, and Vittorio Monti’s Csárdás.

In his remarks, Ambassador Endo underscored the enduring power of music in strengthening Japan and the Philippines’ cultural exchanges and longstanding friendship. He also conveyed his hopes that “may harmony and smiles continue to define the music of our countries’ lively relationship.”
Additionally, Managing Director Sato Fumihiko expressed his delight that the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra will be able to perform in the Philippines on the memorable occasion of the 70th Anniversary of Philippines-Japan Friendship.
DOT Secretary Angara-Mathay also delivered a special message to close the evening, calling for strengthened collaborations amidst celebrations for the 70th Anniversary of Philippines-Japan Friendship.
