Ambassador ENDO attends the DLSU Japan Festival Week opening ceremony

On 6 July 2026, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya attended the De La Salle University’s (DLSU) Japan Festival Week opening ceremony. Organized by the DLSU Department of International Studies, the week-long event features a variety of cultural activities in celebration of the 70th Anniversary of Philippines-Japan Friendship. Also attending the event were DLSU President Br. Bernard S. Oca, FSC, DLSU Department of International Studies Chair Dr. Evangeline Katigbak-Montoya, DLSU Department of International Studies Professor, Dr. Dennis Trinidad and University of the Philippines Diliman Asian Center Associate Professor Dr. Karl Ian Cheng Chua among members of the academe and the DLSU student body. 
 
 

In his message, Ambassador Endo highlighted Japan and the Philippines’ evolving bilateral relations, reflecting on the milestones the two countries have achieved in seven decades of friendship. Moreover, he underscored the importance of academic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges in fostering stronger Japan-Philippines relations, inviting the attendees to “join us in co-creating a shared future built on peace, prosperity, and endless possibilities.” 
 
 

The festival showcases the significance of cultural exchange in further deepening the ties between Japan and the Philippines. Running from 6 to 10 2026, the event also includes an exhibit on the two countries’ cultural and diplomatic relations, cosplay and other exciting contests, and a traditional Japanese tea ceremony.
